Help us welcome Violet Woitkiewicz and Nadi Christensen, our new family empowerment interns, to our team! Read more below about both of them, their experiences, and what they’ll bring to our organization and those we serve. Our connections to Violet and Nadi were made possible through Charlotte Lab School and their mission to use the community as their classroom.

Hi, my name is Violet Woitkiewicz. I’m a 9th grader at Charlotte Lab School and am excited to work with SchermCo. I’m very happy that I was selected for this internship because SchermCo aligns with many of my beliefs of equity and making the world a better place, and it seems like a welcoming environment. I’ve felt so welcome in the past two weeks: all the people I’ve worked with have ensured I’m ready to start this internship and I’m beyond thankful. I believe everybody should have the chance to get a good education in anything, no matter who you are.

I’m very excited to work with Jia Lin-Bothe (Director of Family Empowerment) because she was my 7th-grade math teacher. She taught me so much, and I’m excited to work with her in a different environment and capacity. I hope to work on my collaboration and communication skills and try to connect with small and large businesses in Charlotte. I’m very excited to collaborate with new people and make new connections.

My hobbies are theater, baking, cooking, and watching movies when I’m not at school. I love being creative and doing hands-on activities. I also enjoy volunteering whether it is at a church event or going on mission trips. I enjoy traveling and seeing and trying new things.

I can’t express how excited I am for this internship, and I am so honored to have this opportunity.

I’m so honored to be working for a company that has such a great message behind it. I can’t wait to see what this internship has in store for me.

Hello, I am Nadia Christensen, but I mainly go by Nadi (I don’t mind how you pronounce it). I was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina, and I’m a 10th grader at Charlotte Lab. When Mr. Capps approached me to be an intern at SchermCo, I saw equity for all, and I stand with what they do.

My main interests include creative writing, digital art, and music theory. I enjoy meeting and working with new people. I would love to draw and create my own stories one day; a “normal job” doesn’t interest me, and I want to be a part of something that inspires people through art and creativity.

My passion is peace. I’m dissatisfied with how much hate there is in the world and on the internet.  I’m grateful to attend Charlotte Lab because it is inclusive, and students can be themselves. I strive for peace; to have peace with yourself, you must bring peace to the world as much as possible. Equity brings peace, a significant theme I enjoy in SchermCo’s mission statement.

I’m very thankful to be working here at SchermCo; it is also the closest thing I’ve had to a real job in my current life. And I’m sure many other students who get internships and job training through SchermCo will have a similarly positive welcome.
