CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Come hungry for education and empowerment. SchermCo is slicing some Square Pizza.

The Charlotte, N.C.-based social impact implementation firm is thrilled to announce the launch of their podcast, Square Pizza.

A nod to a Friday lunchroom treat served at public school elementary schools and making the good things about school – even better, the Square Pizza podcast is serving up fresh and hot conversations that focus on some of today’s most pressing subjects – education, innovation, and diversity.

The first episode drops this week with an hour-long conversation with a legendary voice – Dr. Howard Fuller. An internationally-known public servant for education reform as well as the Founder and Director of the Institute for the Transformation of Learning, Fuller has shaped a career that has honored how we support education that transforms learning for children and empowers low-income families.

SchermCo is well-positioned to host and lead conversations like this. With deep experience in strategic advising, organizational development, and implementation services for schools and education-focused organizations that support underserved communities, SchermCo is a game-changer with big ideas. The podcast honors that spirit.

“We wanted to create a space where we could celebrate the good things happening in schools and support the effort to keep improving, learning, growing, and engaging,” says SchermCo’s Founder, Greg Schermbeck. “It’s really about starting real conversations that make schools and communities better.”

That’s an important throughline for Schermbeck who began his career as a Teach For America Corps Member teaching high school science at West Charlotte High School. Most recently, Schermbeck was a member of the team that presented the impact of a Charlotte-based district/charter partnership to the North Carolina Charter School Advisory Board in Raleigh. As a result of that presentation, the team has been invited to present their plan to the full State Board of Education this spring.

The podcast is a collaborative effort, as well. It is hosted by Schermbeck and SchermCo’s Director of Programs, Kelsey Van Dyke with guests who are important change-makers and conversation starters – like Dr. Fuller.

“We cannot think of a better guest to kick off the podcast than Dr. Fuller,” says SchermCo’s Kelsey Van Dyke. “He’s a leader not only in conversations about education, but also in innovative and disruptive practices that engage, inspire, and empower people.”

Square Pizza is available via Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and iHeartRADIO
