SchermCo Leads First Strategic Vision for City of Charlotte’s New Workforce Development Department

Charlotte, NC –

SchermCo, a leading national social impact implementation firm, is proud to announce the successful development and approval of a comprehensive strategic plan for the City of Charlotte’s newly established Office of Workforce Development. The plan was unanimously approved by the Charlotte City Council, marking a pivotal step forward in creating equitable access to economic mobility and employment pathways across the city. Coinciding with the launch of the City’s newly established Office of Workforce Development, this marks the first formally adopted workforce development strategic plan in Charlotte’s history.

Commissioned by the City of Charlotte, SchermCo led a year-long strategic planning process rooted in community engagement, data-driven research, and collaborative design. Insights were gathered from more than 90 stakeholders across the globe, ranging from Charlotte residents to international leaders in workforce development.

“These strategies and the implementation plan represent more than a vision—it’s a call to action,” said Greg Schermbeck, Founder and Principal of SchermCo. “We are honored to have partnered with the City of Charlotte to design a strategy and implementation plan that reflects residents’ voices and sets a bold course for inclusive workforce development.”

Key elements of the strategic plan include:

  • A multi-year implementation timeline aligned with measurable outcomes
  • Strong public-private partnerships with educational institutions, employers, and nonprofits
  • A commitment to economic mobility as a central pillar of the office’s mission
