Hi! I am Mathu Gibson; a former NFL player turned educator. I am a native of Winston-Salem, NC, and a graduate of Wingate University. I’ve always been passionate about mentoring and developing youth, but I never thought my path would lead me to education. When my football career ended in 2017, I had to pivot from a professional athlete to a working professional. Rediscovering my identity outside the game of football led me on a roundabout journey to education.

 In 2019, I moved to Charlotte and began working at a local Title I charter school. For three years, I served in various roles that allowed me to serve as a liaison between students, teachers, and families, develop and implement a Social-Emotional Learning Curriculum for K-5 students, and build strong community partnerships. In my free time, I enjoy writing, reading, traveling, creating content for my podcast, doing commentary for Wingate football games, going on hikes, doing yoga, eating good food, and spending time with loved ones.

 I believe relationships are your greatest wealth, and I find joy in building meaningful relationships. I’m excited to work for a company that aligns with my core values and does the work of empowering schools and families.
