#69 – Welcome Sarah Robinson to our team!

Hello! My name is Sarah Robinson, and I am excited to join SchermCo as a Family Empowerment Fellow this summer. It is a privilege to work with SchermCo to support the work of empowering families within schools and building toward more equitable school systems within the country. 

As an educator, I have seen first-hand the power of family-school partnerships as a way of not only improving outcomes for students but also connecting families to needed community resources. At the beginning of the pandemic, several of my students lacked the technology to participate effectively and demonstrate their learning in a virtual environment. Being able to connect those families quickly to our community partners with the financial capacity to sponsor these students, ensuring they stayed on track and had the opportunity to continue their education. 

My experiences as a student also speak to the lasting legacy family members can have in a student’s life. My grandparents and great-grandparents set an example of a strong work ethic and demonstrated a profound belief in the capabilities of young people. Those values have helped me achieve at every level of my education, and I would not be where I am today without them. I am honored to learn from and work with the schools and families of North Carolina over the summer. 

I am finishing my Masters of Education in Instructional Coaching at Lipscomb University and look forward to facilitating coaching conversations with teachers and supporting the professional learning communities within my school. I enjoy trying new recipes, hosting game nights, and checking out new books at my local library when I am not studying or working.
