Family Empowerment Collaboration Project
Location: Charlotte, NC
Scope: In the second year of this initiative between Ashley Park PreK-8 and Movement Charter School, we continued to leverage feedback from families in addition to school-level data to host 20 data-driven family nights that offered tailored resources to families. This initiative was also made possible by a $175,000 grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation.
Results: This data-driven and collaborative approach to family empowerment resulted in 3,500+ total people attending at least one family night in 2018-2019. Additionally, 53% of families from each school attended at least one family night. Furthermore, parents and school leaders have continually expressed the importance of family nights and an increased sense of community and trust as a result of this effort.
For Oak Cliff
Location: Dallas, TX
Scope: We partnered with For Oak Cliff (FOC) for a 3-month period to support their initial strategic planning efforts to help the organization further deepen their impact within their community. FOC was in the midst of merging with City Square, a well-known non-profit organization serving the Dallas community. We were able to tailor our support for FOC during this transition by focusing on their existing programs and key metrics.
Results: Through our recommendations and implementation plan, FOC increased referrals from the South Oak Cliff community by 10% to City Square and their services to increase economic mobility. In June 2019, FOC won the $100,000 Social Innovation Award from Teach For America to continue their programming.
Location: Las Vegas, NV
Scope: We partnered with thinkLAW for a three-month period to evaluate their current operations, systems, and structures in an effort for thinkLAW to reach a growth of 20% in revenue in the first half of 2018. We were also asked to identify and support the removal of barriers that were impeding thinkLAW’s ability to implement stronger systems. This partnership allowed us to conduct multiple staff interviews and biweekly check-ins and identified key systems and processes that were bottlenecked.
Results: We delivered a plan that centered on key systems that helped the organization as a whole to be more successful by encouraging thinkLAW to narrow their focus in operations to prioritize renewals, have a smaller geographic focus, and consider how to best leverage appearances. As a result, thinkLAW exceeded their revenue goal by 12%.
Location: Charlotte, NC
Scope: We partnered with Profound Gentlemen to lead their strategic business planning efforts. This initial, 6-month partnership allowed us to connect with 30+ stakeholders from across the country and fully identify the core differentiators of the organization.
Results: Our recommendations were unanimously approved by the Profound Gentlemen’s Board of Directors and has since helped them raise over $500,000 within six months.
